[Planning and Preparation]

Planning and preparation is critical when being an instructor. Being prepared is one of the biggest foundations for a functional classroom. It is important to be a good role model to set a good example for the students to be prepared for the workplace

[Delivering Course Content]

Wow! This can be real tricky sometimes. Power Point presentations are very nice but students can begin to rely on them to much. Not enough class interaction. Have to keep the students attention. Trying different methods everyday is important. Students get bored very easily.we must be actors when presenting class materials. Great suggestions and I certainly will use these.

[Meeting the Class for the First Time]

Meeting the class for the first time can make an instructor very nervous. It is important to make a good impression (which is made as soon as the students meet you)in a very confident way. It is real easy to let the students intimidate the instructor one day one. Ice breakers for the class are good for the instructor and students to relax and get to know each other.

[Planning and Preparation]

Preparing for class and being in class on time is an important step in setting a good example for the students. we are training them for a career and they need to know the importance of being on time. Great pointers for class preparation

Developing as an Instructor]

As an instructor it is very inmportant to be an excellent role model. Motivation is also very important. Sometimes that is the hardest thing to do depending on class size and ages of the group of students. It is very important that as educators we are creative.

ask good question

questions should not be equivocal or misleading

Group project doesn't always work well

Hello all, From my past experience as a student as well as an instructor, I have seen, when it comes to group project, contribution from each member is not often equal. There is always one who wants to get a free ride on others' work. But as the topic mentioned, by grading individually can help identify the non-productive member of the group and be awarded points accordingly.

All in one

When I write my tests, I try to include various types of questions. I usually mix T/F with essay and short answer to get a good mix.

Ice Breakers on the first day of class

What are some examples of ice breakers you are using on the first day of class to help students to get to know each other?

Selecting Course Content

In many cases instructors are not invited to select the course material for the classes they teach. I believe that it would greatly improve instructional methods if this area could be revisited.

Managing your discussion

It is important to allow people to interact so that they can allow for their point of view in a discussion.

Creative and Effective Teaching

Should go hand and hand in that the creative teacher is usually more effective

Teaching Techniquest

It is important know your student as well as the subject matter

Internet sites for triage case studies

I want to sue triage case studies to show why anatomy and physiology is so important to learn. Does anyone know of any Internet sites where I can find these? I would appreciate the help. Thanks!

Excellent Training

I find this on-line course very informative and relevant to the current trends in American Education. I have always adopted a "Socratic" style of teaching, but I modify my platform depending on the school environment and class content. This has allowed me flexible, student satisfaction and the ability to utilize technology in my instruction.

Teaching to Learning Styles

It is important to remember that the way you teach is always in the students best interest as to the way they learn.

Motivating students who will not be motivated.

I find that almost each module there is one to four students that I get in my classes that are extremely difficult to motivate. I have had some students tell me that they were in school because they had be since they could not find a job. These students pick health care because there are more available jobs in this field. I strongly get the impression from some students that they are just there to take up space. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get these students motivated?

meeting students

When I have a new class, I immediately work on learning all of the student names. I will sometimes make a chart of where they sit to refer to if the class is especially big. The other thing I do is try to associate something with their name. The quicker you learn their name, the better. It shows that you truly care about them and they respond better in kind.

Material

Well being a professional and having monthly periodicals coming to me would it be good to present those to my class when I would be the only one able to get that info, would it be giving them more info than the others in the school are getting. I fear doing that since I get very specific information to myself that few people are able to get that it would be inappropriate to do so.

Presenting class

As an instructor I am always interacting with my students on an individual basis. This helps me understand their learning style and find better ways to ensure that the class content is delivered in many different supportive ways.
