How exciting to return to field of education - admissions

We get to help others who want to improve their lives by advancing their education. This is a real thrill and my way of paying it forward as a guidance counselor secretly submitted my application for a scholarship when I was in high school ...I won free tuition and fees for 2 year scholarship based on my grades and positive attitude ... so once I was in school I loved it and now I can help as many others by business cards out in the community or by converting as many as a company supplies me with prospects ..

Notebook

I found the input on creating a resource notebook helpgful. It is a one stop shopping admissions "bible" of sorts. I plan on using this alot to better assist me in this role.

Institutionally / Regionally Accredited

What is a good way to blatantly describe to students the difference between Instutional / Regional / National Accreditation & how it will affect their employment post graudation?

Marketing

I have found that marketing a school has been most beneficial (from what I have seen) both by Radio Advertisement as well as online. Radio is always a leeway into getting the word out about a new program, or a school itself. People are always driving & a majority of the time have their Radio playing while doing so. While potential students are at home - they typically utilize online search engines. I believe the best way to market out is to point something out about the school / institution that differs from other surrounding schools.

Transfer Credits from an Accredited Institution

As an Admission Rep - It is important for students not only to inquire if the current school they are deciding to enroll in is accredited, but also if they are planning on submitting transfer credits - if that institution is accredited as well.

Changes In Compliance

Are changes in compliance something admissions reps need to research themselves?

Know the subject matter as well as the regulations

I have been in the I.T industry now for 12 years and found it a great asset to be able to talk about the subject itself as well as the enrollment process. Asking your company to allow you to sit in on courses and take the certification not only boosts your own resume, but helps you explain content to the prospective student.

Transferring Credits

Is there a process that must be followed during the transfer of credits?

Financial Aid

Are admissions representatives allowed to speak with students about financial aid?

Differences?

What are the differences between an Agent and Admission Representative?

it was hard approved applicant satus

Benefit of Admissions Training

Career Colleges and Schools have been taking a hit over the past few years, and therefore all are held at a higher level of accountability. One of the reasons for this has been bad admissions practices. I am grateful for classes such as this and other training for admissions officers and departments because it lays everything plainly out. In some cases admissions workers claimed not to really have had serious training regarding correct practices. The news has been filled with examples of bad practices by admissions departments, but this class presents the information in a clear and understandable way.

The Importance of Product Knowledge

Investing time in learning about the brand/products offered through your institution is a fundamental key to sucess. Having a clear understanding of the services your school offers builds onfidence in your response to potential students. This knowledge can keep a rep from fumbling around their notes and allow them to focus on whats more important, building a relationship with the future graduate.

Stay up to date with your institution

with the technology we have access to today, to check the institution's website for updates was the most logical source/answer, but to check the supervisor is always a good idea.

Transfer of credits

It is important to understand the transfer of credit process and how to frame your converstion regarding this important issue.

admissions

The most beneficial aspect of this training is the idea of continued involvement with your peers regarding recruiting appropriately. As a supervisor of admissions personnel, it is very helpful.

Required for All

I was not aware that old Admissions Representatives had to get certified as well. It's a good thing that its a requirment for everyone due to so many seasoned representatives doing away with giving misinformation.

marketing

what else can a school do to attract prospective students besides websites, printing advertisements, radio, etc....?

Transferability of Credits

Does a student need to have a transcript from prior Institution before registering to a new Institution?

Marketing

Is it ok for agents to cold call prospective students?
