Many of the career learners are managing many different life responsibilities. With clear class management policies and guidelines the learners are better able to manage their time. Clear explanation of the guidelines also helps to reduce anxiety they may have.
Because if the class isn't mananged well (under control, organized or on task) it is distracting students from focusing on learning
Good classroom management is vital because it is conducive to learning. The instructor must demonstrate preparedness, organization, and knowledge of the field . Students will feel a since of order in the class and preparedness to learn. The instructor must establish classroom guidelines that must be followed. Therefore, students know what is expected and how to conduct themselves accordingly.

I have a very strict instructor on faculty, and she is by far one of the best. Students know that she is not going to tolerate any foolishness, and they act accordingly.

The structure and tone of the instructor within the classroom sets the mood and expectations for student success. If you are too strict or too easy-going, the students will react negatively. There must be a balance of the two in order to have good classroom management. The students need to know your expectations and how this class relates to their real life and their job.
Someone must be in control to keep the class running smoothly, your students must be able to apply what they are learning to their career
If a classroom is not well-managed, teaching may be ineffective. Planning for things like interruptions, cell phone usage, generaldistractions,disruptive behavior, and expectations will all help to minimize stress on the students and the teacher and optimize student and teacher performance.

Sometimes as instructors we do need to evaluate ourselves, and if they are faults, fix them.

Being conscious of what works or doesn’t work in class is important when planning for the start of a new class. If there are questions or tasks that are continually answered or performed wrong amongst the majority of students, then we need to review where we may have gone wrong with our presentation of the material. This will help us plan accordingly for future classes.

Nicely stated! The environment should be one that is conducive for learning to take place. The instructor has to be in control the entire time. Students should never be allowed to control the classroom.

The teacher serves as both the leader and moderator of the classroom. It is important to have a classroom which works well and where each student can feel comfortable expressing their ideas. Problematic students can disrupt this flow and it is up to the teacher to address problems promptly and with sensitivity. No one wants a classroom where the teacher has given up their leadership to potentially disruptive students.

I totally agree! I have seen in some cases where students enter the class on Day 1 with an opinion already formed about the instructor either good or bad.

Successful class management is critical. From day one students start forming an opinion of the instructor and the course. First impressions count the most. They are hard to change, especially if you've left a bad one. If you create an orderly, well thought out classroom environment it gives the students the impression that you, the instructor, are well prepared and care about providing the best possible learning experience. It's the first step in establishing rapport and gaining the students' respect.

It is important that the teacher is well organized and prepared for class. Additionally, the teacher should be in charge. The student are there to learn from your experience and skills, and knowledge.
It is critical because it delivers the information in an organised manner so that students can retain it with confidence, that they are provided with right learning to develop and better their skills which will aid in their careeer.

To me, in business management courses, it is as much about modeling good business behavior as it is about maintaining a good learning environment. The nature of both is that of a transaction - and good management of the process and environment reduces friction in any transaction.
Class management is crucial because an instructor must efficient manage the course in order to ensure each students gets the most out the course. Poor managment skills can lead to poor teaching in some cases.

Wow, this is large for an algebra class. Perhaps the group method will help things a bit here. I would create 7 groups with 5 people in each group. Put a strong academic person in each group and make a captain for each group to make sure things flow smoothly, most importantly students are understanding. The next time this happens go to personnel for an assistant.
