so that my class flow smooth
Hi Caro,
Not much learning takes place when an instructor is unprepared, unorganized, and have no control.
Patricia
Hi Gwen,
Classroom management is a must, and it is the instructor's responsibility to ensure an environment so that effective learning can take place.
Patricia
Hi Elizabeth,
Yes, you are on point! We must produce an environment that is conducive for learning.
Patricia
Class management is necessary, particularly for adult learners. They aren't looking for friends; they are looking for people they can respect, look up to, and aspire to be. BY maintaining classroom management and making structure and adherence to the rules a priority, an instructor is encouraging continued learning.
Managing your class is very important to the learning of your students. A disruptive class can distract and take away from the student comprehension. Students want a safe place to study and learn which makes it critical to classroom management.
Without class management, it will be very difficult to create a positive learning environment. If the instructor is unorganized or unprepared for class, it takes up valuable class time. Also, if the instructor allows a student or students to take control of the class, the course objectives and learning activities may not take place.
Without a management plan, you can't create a positive learning environment. If the class is left unmanaged, the students don't know how they're expected to behave, and will act as they see best - not always in a uniform fashion, and certainly not always in their best interest for educational purposes. A teacher cannot teach effectively without first managing effectively.
Hi Tehea,
That's right! Students can quickly tell when you are just trying to wing things. Never go into the classroom trying to wing it, always be prepared.
Patricia
Without structured class management learning will be negatively effected. Students need to know how the class will be presented and the instructors expectations.
Class management is crucial because it shows your students that you are prepared and have planned for that particular course. As I learned through these objectives, students can read through an unprepared teacher and will try to take over the class if a teacher is not.
It is my philosophy that Classroom Management is the key component in any educational setting. I believe that if students are in a safe environment, then learning can take place. This doesn’t necessarily mean punishing behavior problems but rather a combination of setting the tone in a class, preventing behavior problems with interesting and engaging curriculums and effectively including all students in the classroom so that their needs are met. Having the right environment for all students to learn is my major goal of implementing good classroom management--without it the students would not be able to learn.
I am committed to making my classroom a safe and challenging environment and engaging my students through the curriculum as well as getting to know them and interacting with them one-on-one. I believe that meeting the needs of my students is a very crucial part of my classroom. I want them to be comfortable with the other students, as well as me, so that there can be meaningful discussions and interactions. Talking will be common place in my classroom, along with group work. I want to encourage all students to participate in class so that they can learn from each other as well as me. I want to have a democratic and equitable classroom so that students can learn. I want to be a fair as I can be, so the students trust me.
I feel that I have a very patient and calm attitude with my class. I ask students about their life outside of class and feel that they respond in class even more, knowing that someone is paying attention to them. I want them to feel comfortable asking questions of me. I think my attitude towards the students is not overbearing or authoritative. I do not believe in forcing the students to do anything. I want to work with them in all circumstances so that we can achieve together and they don’t feel like I am spoon-feeding them information. I want students to be a part of their learning. I want to motivate students to learn and keep their interest by using engaging curriculum. I want to involve students in rules about the classroom as well as what curriculum they would like to study. I believe if students feel they are involved in the workings of the classroom, they will be more motivated to engage in the class and in turn, learn.
It give order to the class room and it helps the respect level in the class room.
Class management is important because it is a key instrument for instructors to achieve effective teaching. It helps ensure students become more efficient at absorbing class material. These techniques help teachers with the development of future courses, and how to navigate student issues in the most positive manner, for instructor and student, through to course completion.
Students for the most need an Instructor who has a good knowledge of class-room management and can deal with the Problems in the class-room to maintain control. The issue of having Control of the Class is Crucial to the Instructor's success. I notice this in my Clinical class/Post-Conference hour which I hold in a hospital at present. I have 2 students who tend to Dominate the time and, I have to remind them that other students need time to participate as well.
Hi Qadar,
The first day is the day to make a positive impression. Students are very judgemental and believe or not, they begin to judge you even before they are enrolled in your class.
Patricia
Without class management, the class will descend into chaos and only those students that truly wish to learn the material will work towards that goal (and even they will be severely hampered in their efforts towards it).
The first day of the class is critical. That is the day students evaluate who is the leader in that class. If an instructor shines that day she/he earns their respect. If you mess up, which I did before, it will take you days to earn their respect and you are going to have a big problem managing that class.
Hi Howard,
Super response! The instructor sets the tone for the class. I can tell you build relationships with your students. I tell my students we are all one big family except on a test. Students can do a lot to help each other to feel comfortable.
Patricia
Hi Shana,
I concur! It is certainly the instructor's responsibility to produce an environment for all students so that effective teaching and learning can take place.
