While it all is great information I like that Ohio makes it clear what they expect, some states are grey in some areas but that is not the case thus far for Ohio.

So far i've placed who is supposed to take the Ohio State board of Career Colleges and Schools licensing, why it's important to take the course, and what can happen if I fail to follow the rules/laws.

The information I have placed in my resource notebook include things that relate directly to my institution as well as the regulations to the state of Ohio. As an out of state University it is important for me and my team to understand the difference in the state regulations and rules. The one thing that I did not know about the rules and regulations the institution must abide by are how involved the state of Ohio is in comparison to other states in which I hold a license. It's nice to know that someone cares about their population that is continuing their education.

What information have I placed in my resource book?

1. Local instutution information:
2. School catelog
3. Sample enrollment agreement
4. Marketing Plans: school print publications
curriculum flyers and info
brochures, hand outs
5. Policies & Procedures
6. School organizational charts
academics
career services
student services
admissions
7. School contact rosters
9. Accreditation & Licensing information
10. Maps and other directional information
11. Student tracking information
12. Enrollment tracking information
13. Career Service information
14. School historical data
15. Demographics and other support information
16. Financial aid information
student loans info
website info
scholership info
etc:

I found this training usefull and informative. I feel that some areas were a little gray;however, I have a better understanding as to why schools have additional requirements handed down in order to do thier jobs better. In the long run it is about the student and making the best decision possible.

The Resource Notebook is great to have, to include laws, rules, statues and forms to reference information.

i agree as well i believe we should all have that adaptation of the resourse notebook to make sure we are consistantly on the same page with rules and regulations for the best of the school and our students.

I am obliged to take this course and learn about the agent's license specifically; especially regarding state-to-state regulations and the fact that the license is earned, not automatically offered.

Sabrina,

If you were working for a career college or school in Indiana that was actively recruiting Ohio students, an agent's permit would be required.

I have printed the laws, rules or statues and forms in my resource notebook. This will allow me to use this as a quick reference if I have questions or not sure the answer to something to a law. Furthermore, a copy of our school catalog, enrollment agreement, marketing plans, policies and procedures and the organizational chart will also be helpful resources. In addition, I didn't know that there are specific rules set in place for application or registration fees. I learned that the fee must not be more than fifteen per cent of the total tuition charge for the program or one hundred dollars and twenty-five dollars, whichever is the lesser.

I was also un aware that I needed to renew my permit annually. I think that will keep me on top of all required regualtions.

I agree Magan. There is a lot of information that I have written down to ensure that I don't forget anything that is important to my job

In the Resource Notebook I have a school catalog, our personnel manual, our school enrollment agreement, and a list of our schools programs.

I did not know that out of state schools that recruit students in Ohio must be approved by the Ohio Board and all agents must have a permit.

For example, If I was working in Indiana and was working with prospective students in Ohio, would I need to complete the training requirements?

My resource notebook contains information regarding all the programs offered through my campus along with compliance rules and guidelines for conducting interviews and enrolling students. I've also done some comparative research of other schools carrying our programs and included that information as well in my notebook.

School Catalog.

I didn't know all of the meanings to the IT program because there are so many cerfications.

So far I have printed out the student enrollment policies and practices, tuition and fees, and refunds for books, fees and supplies. I'm waiting for additional direction from my supervisor on what else to include.

Kathy, it seems like you've got a great organization on your Resource Notebook. I may have to copy that pattern. I am completely new to all of this so I am waiting to see if the school I work for has anything assembled for me or if I need to print these on my own.

One of the things that I thought would be most overwhelming is learning all of the details of the school: programs of study, courses, cost, degree earned, teachers, etc. Just putting together the resource notebook helped me start to get a grasp on these details. The notebook is a great tool for an admissions agent.

So far I have added: my school's enrollment agreement, copies of some of my school's marketing materials, a copy of the employee manual, a copy of the student manual, a printout of our organizational chart and publications of each of our courses. This is just a start as I am sure I will be adding a lot more.
