Main Importance of prioritizing

The most important reason to prioritize is to not forget tasks as well as utilizing you time.

Get Ride Of Stress

One helpful way to eleviate some stress is to write things down. Make a list, number your list according to importance and check tasks off as you go.

What stress you out?

Work, home, traffic, customer service? Take five deep breaths, calm down and reapproach whatever situation is at hand.

Reduce your stress Level

In all efforts to reduce your stress level in todays work world one of the things that is benifical is to BE PREPAIRED as much as you can in task you are trying to accomplish.

Different styles, the same objective

While it is essential that we instructors must be able to adapt to different styles, we must stick to one objective--quality education for students. Styles must be based on this common goal and not to make our jobs easy. If we don't have a consistent goal, it is going to be a disaster because students compare instructors, and the good ones are always the bad ones for those whose priority is something else.

How to manage the negative student(s)

How do one go about dealing with young adult students that are negative about everything presented in the classroom? At first I thought that she was just some young kid fresh out of high school, that was used to having a silver platter. She is a whiner about everything, but she has a friend that is really smart who tries to do everything possible to ensure that she passes all of her course work. (By the way, she is much younger than her classmate that is so negative). This concerns me because negativity travels, and has influence which causes choas in the class. What is the best way to handle her and/or any others that may come my way?

Maintaining a family as a career instructor

A career school instructor actually has more flexibilty to get things done it's just planning your day

Stress

One way to reduce stress is never put off what can be done today until tomorrow. If you have an extra 15 minutes to make copies for the next days class take advantage you never know what can come up

A Instructor

An instructor needs to complete all of their tasks to maintain a balance of controling their class room grading assignmments and enjoying their students

syllabus

I think it is very important to read with student the content of syllabus. It is very good start, and at the same time it gives students clear picture about their assignments and grading policies and what chapters to be read and if there is any project involve and deadline of the projects.

new instructor and first day of class

I still remember my first day teaching experience it was really very stressful, all i was thinking how my teaching going to leave impression on my students.

Angry students

Angry students are very unpredictable, you don't know what they are angry for and sometime angry student don't like to share their problems either. It is very scary these days to deal with such students.

center stage students

I thinks center stage students they don't only talk during the lecture but some time they basically disturb the class lectures.

Noise as a stressor

I struggle with getting my work done because of shared office noise. As each of us gets out of a class, talking to relieve stress and being friendly ensues while others are prepping for their courses. In addition, some instructors have hearing deficits and are unaware that their chatter under their breath, whistling, tapping,... is quite audible to others. I have tried talking to the instructors about it. It gets better for a short time. I have used an i-pod to filter out the noise and now have moved my desk further away from them. I wish I could concentrate on my work with noises!

Priority

Students need to understand priority, it is not a priority to have class time to complete homework instead it should be done at home

young instructor

i sometimes find it hard and stressful in the classroom because i'm one of the younger instructors and its not easy to get the respect in the class that im teaching.

Stress in my life

I have noticed that there is a few things in this module that fits to my stress. Unlike most career instructors my full time job is that of a instructor. I work 4 days a week and split shifts 8am-1pm and 6pm-11pm. This is a huge stress for me because of the lack of time to get personal things done. Relationships are not a easy thing to do with this schedule, spending time with family is rare, and the fatigue of not being able to rest between shifts. Another stress is, I was a graduate of the school I was hired on at. Yes I had the knowledge and time in the field, was a 4.0 student and did tutoring well I was enrolled. But I have never taught on this type of level. After 1 year I have finally overcome this stress but every once in awhile I get that flare up because of insecurities. I feel that if I can over come the work stresses then I will be able to deal with the personal stresses in my life.

getting the attention of students who are distratcted

I have tried walking arround my class room as i lecture, this keeps all my students even the ones who might be off to "la-la land" focused. This method works, as for the students that seem to be distracted will start paying attention and will stay ingaged in the lecture.

'I' and 'We'

In addition of focusing on "I" statements regarding student misbehavior, I also like to focus on "we" statements. Here are a few examples: For us to succeed, WE all need to pay attention. To facilitate learning, WE must take this assignment seriously. I find this very effective, and "We" statements appear to culture immediacy and rapport, both which directly affect retention. Plus, instead of it appearing as if what I am asking is for my own personal needs, its worded in a way that reflects we are all in this together and all must work together to facilitate learning.
