Tim,
The beauty of these mediums is that they can be reached anytime and anywhere.

Using social media takes time and attention. Make sure to keep it current!

We have a marketing department that has a "general" Facebook page for our institution. We also have several Youtube videos that have been created. We do have a local campus Facebook page that we use to communicate activities on campus and other academic information. We are in the midst of adding a little "spice" to our Facebook page that can help us generate more referrals and begin to use it more of as a marketing tool as well as a communication tool for existing students.
Social media is a great help for referrals. Its always very good to post testimonies and pictures, of course accurate information is a must.
The school I work for uses facebook as well to talk about upcoming events as well. I think it is a great tool.
Julius,
Social media requires attention of staff in order to make it effective.

Emily,
Just about everyone you know has a cell phone these days. Many people communicate by texting and it is a great way to keep in touch with your students.

Social networking is the communication of the future and today.

We don't utilize the social networking at all. There is so much available out there to market to thru these avenues. For now it is the future; every school and company should be on the bandwagon with social media marketing or they are missing out.
Our school utilizes Facebook for communication with our students and the general public. From what I gather, it seems to be much more effective to communicate with students as they are often always logged in at least on a daily basis. Myself, as an admissions representative, have also found that texting is often more convenient and responsive when communicating with current and prospective students.
Facebook has become a huge part of social media. We use it for our students, clients, employees and it is the #1 way to communicate and bring about new clients and students.
Our school has a Facebook. It is a great way for our staff to share any information with the students. Also students can share their achievements, and spread information about upcoming events.
Social networking is a great way to keep with the times. We keep a facebook page active to stay connected with the students and the community.
