Enough at enrollment

Simply put do you think we a required to do enough in regards fo notifying the student at enrollment. (Notification of crtitical factors.

Higher Education

With the change in cost of education meaning that it is increasing per student. Knowledge of accreditations certification across states becomes really important. How important will online education and regulations be to the next 10 years of career education?

Sell yourself ...

In appointment setting you should not be trying to sell the student on a school they haven't physically even seen yet. The goal of the call I feel is to build rapport by selling yourself and sparking enough intrest in your school so that the student is inclined to want to meet with you and find out more.

Default Assistance

Just because a student is in default does not necessarly mean you cannot be of service to them. If you work closely with your financial aid team then perhaps they will be able to assist the student that is in default with some solutions to get their defaulted loans back in good standing. What you will gain then is a greatful student that will return to you to enroll once their loans are out of default.

Gainful Employment

In order to have successful graduate employment rates and in order to help students to be able to attain gainful employment I feel that it is vital that we really research their desired career path and focus on our program matching so that when this time comes they will be able to be successful and find gainful employment.

Best Guess may be worst decision

Sometimes it is okay to just not know off the top of your head the answer to some of the questions prospective students may ask. The best thing to do is let the student know that you can find out the answer for them or advise them of who would be able to provide them with accurate information.

Advertising and Admissions Practices

Which of the Board's policies regarding advertising and the recruiting of students do you think is most important to caution a new school owner about?

NO Gray area

When it comes to compliace there are no gray areas. It is either righ or wrong. I am very disciplined and methodical when it comes to compliance and I have no tolerance for those who try to "bend" the rules to get a student enrolled. There is too much to risk and frankly wrong is just simply wrong.

Educational Programs

Having the opportunity to sit in on a class is such a great first hand experience that you can share with your student. By sitting in a class or two you will be able to provide a real experience that your student will benefit from. The benefit to the student is the accurace of information that you provide to them so in addition to sitting in on the class it would also be extremely benefial to speak with the instructor to gain additional insight on the expection of not only one class but the entire degree and what the student experience will look and feel like.

Financial aid discussion by Admissions

It is critical that Admissions reps do not get into discussion about financial aid and that they refer the student to a financial aid officer. One way of explaining the "hand off" to the student is to let them know that the finacial aid officer is an expert in the area of financial aid and to ensure that they are getting the most accurate information the college has all students speak only with the FA department.

Admissions veteran

Hello my name is Lisa and I have been in the world of admissions for 8 years now and have seen many changes over the years. I do feel that keeping a binder is critical to staying up to day with any and all law changes to ensure that you stay compliant for yourself, your organization and your student.

Texting

How many of you text your prospective students and at what time during the Admissions process do you feel that is appropriate?

Placement Success

Hello! I am excited to me learning so much information. Does anyone know of proven methods that have been successful at providing accurate data for placement success? Thanks I look forward to any suggestion.

Being Fluent in the Do's and Don'ts

It's absolutley imparative to completely understand the information relavent to the do's and don'ts. When communicating the financial obligations and time commitments that a prospective student may expect, the admissions agent needs to be fluent in this information and relay it accurately. This allows for the prospective student to make an informed descion based on true fact and not on incomplete deduction.

Discrediting other schools

It is extremely disrespectful to down grade another school in any way.

Just do the right thing

Being the DOA of a for-profit college, it is imperative that we as a college are staying in compliance. Not even for the fact of "getting caught" but like it said in the training (paraphrasing) students base their decisions on the reputation of the college. That being said, full disclosure shouldn't be a punishment but an asset. If a college, non-profit or for-profit, has trained faculty, staff and administrators, there isn't anything to hide and, in most occasions, has a strong program/curriculum to offer students. Doing the right thing always pays off in the end. Does anyone else believe that some schools should be excluded from certain criteria as far as regulations is concerned...based on profit status? I understand that some colleges do not have the same strict regulations or guidelines as for-profit institutions. Quite frankly, and this is totally my opinion, but I'm glad we are regulated like we are. It weeds out the institutions that are in this for the wrong reasons...and it keeps colleges on their toes to give the students what they need to succeed. Sorry for the novel.

Learning About Different Resources Within Your Organization

Having the knowledge about the different services that each department offers is essential. Having the knowledge about such services provides additional guidance for our students. Moreover, if you are looking to seek additional information, an organization chart is a great resource. From the chart you can easily find out who to talk to and gather information from regarding that specific department.

Catalog vs. Enollment Agreement

It is important to remember that the catalog includes important information that the applicant needs to be informed about. It is also important to note that the signed enrollment agreement comprises the formal contract between both the school & student. The two are different; one provides important information (catalog) & the other comprises the foratl contract between the school & student (agreement).

License Renewal

I think that it is essential and necessary that every year an agent has their licensed renewed. This ensures that the agent is up to par on their skills, and is knowledgeable on the most current information within the educational system.

Admissions Rep

This was an excellent lesson. It is great to know that there is consistency across the state and that institutions must follow state guidelines.
