Other schools placement

I keep going back to this, because it bothers me. I have personally called our competitors pretending I was a student, and they say we have all these relationships with other establishments, and we have none. I know we can't control what are competitor says, but at the same time, its not fair to our business, or to the potential enrollment that is getting this information

Keeping track of graduates

It is very difficult to get a specific number or percentage of graduates. We have graduates who move away, who decide to not pursue what they have come to learn about, who get hired that don't tell us. What or how is the best way to handle this? We want to be accurate, I understand that, but they are times we just don't know

Competition from other schools

I think one of the most frustrating things, is when students come in and tell us that our school - is not the same as our competitors and we are not approved or rated the same way. I actually have had students who signed up with us, because we didn't mention anything negative about them. We kept their questions relevant to our school and answered them honestly and positive. I am proud of our school, our accomplishments, and our professionalism - for that the school sells itself.

important

its very important to understand all rules and regulations upon enrollment

staying in touch with future students

High school reps. have a lot more to do than just signing up a prospective student. all sorts of things come up between the fall and the following summer, when the prospective student may be scheduled to start school. It is essential to maintain contact on at least a monthly basis, to keep the student focussed on starting school. what are some things that will cause a student to back out from attending? Why is it beneficial to know as soon as possible if a student has decided not to attend?

credits

It is always good to know what you can and cannot do and know how to explain to a student how the credits from another school will work for them

Policy and procedures

As an agent you want to always know your policies for any school and this training was very easy to understand

paperwork

It is really good to be informative of your school and the proper paperwork that is needed when enrolling students

ADMISSIONS

From being in the Admission arena for over 10 years it is nice to see a training method that explains things very simple for a new agent.

Financial Aid

When a student asks me which is quite often will I get financial aid I am very cautious to what I respond with. My response usually is, Financial Aid is available to those who qualify. For how much I do not know. Our Financial Aid director can better assist you with that process however. Is that proper and in compliance? Kelly Gibson

Avoiding Default

How have the 90/10 rules effected your tuition rates and with raises in tuition and higher payments do you feel more default situations have occured?

Enforcing Administrative Rules

Other than student surveys what methods are used by the State Board to make sure rules are followed? Random audits of student enrollment agrements, "secret shoppers"?

Organized

File everything and keep everything in a binder! Kind of weird way to do if but, I keep some of my information in a shoe box. So, I can mail it out if need be!

"Sell Yourself" not the Product

I kind of have a different out take on this! You really need to sell yourself before you sell the product! No one is going to buy from you if they don't like you. So, try to sell yourself before going into product and school knowledge!

Paperwork!!!

When meeting with family I make sure I have double sheet of paperwork. Whether I forget some forms I have extra back-ups! Always a good to have extras just in case!

Discussion on compliance

Are out of state schools that recruit in Ohio exempt from training requirments?

Agents / Admissions

After carefully reading over this module, it was a great reminder of the right way to do things. As an Agent/Admissions Rep it is our main responsibility to understand each regulation and understand why they are so important. We should always put the student first in regards to the information that we give out. It goes back to the old saying, "treat others the way that would like to be treated." Never answer a question or provide information that you are not 100% sure of. Reach out the resources at your campus to learn frequently. The main way to bring about success to your campus is to be honest, be ethical, and always think of the student first.

Retired School Counselor and Admissions Agent Differences

I retired as a school counselor after 34 years. I am now working toward an agent permit at my part-time position in a proprietary school. During the 4 months I have worked here, I have noticed many differences between how a public school operates and how a business operates. I am adjusting with guidance from our admissions team. I love what I am doing but wonder if anyone who has been in a similar situation has any supportive advice for me? Thanks

Enrollment Agreement

It's so very important to make sure that a student understand about the enrollment process, How could we make it easier to accomplish this with student in a timely manner without making the student feel overwhelmed?

Marketing with Facebook

Does anyone know whether or not it is ok to talk about our school's program on social media sites as long as we do not mention specifics or try to recruit directly from the social media sites? It seems like this would be a very inexpensive medium to educate more people on the advantages of attending school and providing them information quickly about their options. This is one medium I would love to explore in regards to educating people about the advantages of obtaining higher education.
