Knowledge

If a student see's his instructor is constantly ill prepared or not ontime for class, that will not re-enroll in that institution....

Customer service

In this society where value on customer service has diminished, it is essential for our students to feel recognized as an individual not just "another number". It is essential for us to be understanding of their needs and expectations.

retention

Maintaining the students interest is crucial, finding innovative ways to translate the cirriculum into an upscaled an interest "new topic" is my goal.

reinforce the class

I like to talk about personal experiences that relate to what they are going to learn in the course. To reinforce the class and that is real important for them to know and understand.

retention

keep the subjects interesting, answer all questions, and never talk down to your students

First Week Of Class

It is interesting that many students miss the first day of class thinking that they will not miss any-thing, only to find out that they cannot catch up with the rest of the class. Leading to frustration and possible leave of absence, or withdraw.

late enrollemts

great information here. i am ready to put this information into action tomorrow.

faculty interaction

I'm pleased that our school is small enough that students feel as though the entire school knows them. But I feel there is always room to improve overall.

institutional connection

Student + Instructor + faculty= a good fit for everyone involved.

Keeping them in the classroom

I truly believe that working your hardest during those first 5 days is the most important to the survival of the student's discussion to stay in school and that their choice really IS the right choice!

orientation

allow the faculty instructors participate in the orientation day

GENUINE CARING TO DEVELOP TRUST!

IT HAS WORKED FOR ME. WE WORK TOGETHER. AS AN INSTRUCTOR I DEMOSTRATE THEM A GENUINE INTEREST ENCOURAGING THEM ONE ANOTHER TO DO THE BEST JOB POSSIBLE ON ANYTHING THEY DO.

Retention

motivaiting student, tell them to stay focus on their gols to become an esthetician, help them as much as they needed so when they graduate from our school they will be proud.

Retention

I think motivating our students is very crucial to their learing, we can achieve this by rewarding them with excellent attendance and care.

Funny you should ask!

When I read the heading of the topic I thought of trying to create something in a petrie dish. Then I realized that is exactly what we do. Take a staff of people and try to create a mixture that will do some good with out destroying itself. One wrong ingedient and the whole project could be destroyed. The creator has to deside to keep the ingredient in the mix and let time maybe create a good mixture or does it have to be neutrilized soon. Many important discoveries have come about by accident so the ansewer may be to wait and hope all is well.

Are you making a positive impact?

Making a good first impression is very important. If you greet your students with a positive attitude and a welcome they will feel more at ease as they enter your class for the first time. Next you need to be prepared for the start of the day ahead of you. If the class is prepared and material is out to be distributed as necessary that will reinforce their mind set that you are ready to start the learning experience and they will know that is how they should prepare themselves for the days ahead.

Our business is changing lives.

I believe we are in the business of providing a path for future employment in a field I hope they are excited about. We can provide all types of knowledge and experience and know how but they are the ones who come here to change their present life. It sad to say but most have no desire to change their present lives and it shows at graduation.

Make it more then a job

If the students think your only here for the pay check they may think your cutting corners . If you show you really are interested in them as a person and a student you will get a lot more from them. Show you care, interact with them and go above and beyond what is expected; find the ansewer to their questions, help them with a problem that may not be your course, etc. and they will become more then students. If you're there just for the pay check it will show and they will look elsewhere for guidence and knowledge. Besides the day will go a lot faster if your not always looking at the clock to see if it's time to leave.

Model,Mentor,Monitor

Model I talk to the students and let them know that I had to start somewhere also. I tell a story about what a friend told me when I was about thirty-three year old when I got fluster with a young man. My friend came in to the shop were u worked and saw that I was beside my self so he asked me what was wrong I replayed that this young man was getting to me and if he didn’t listen to me I would have to get rid of hi. My friend just said that just remember you were there not to long ago so think about it. My friend passed away a few years ago but I never forgot what he said.

Retention

In a class room of 40 to 60 students it seems every now and again we will get a student who just is not prepared emotionally or mentally to be there. Do we coddle them as was mentioned in section 1 and make the rest suffer or just accept the fact and leave them behind? This being after all avenues are exhausted such as counsuling and tutors.
