Gwendolyn,
Excellent! It's a great way to stay connected to your students.

Janel,

Many people use the social media as a way to stay connected. Companies are using it to advertise and social groups are using it to stay connected.

Patty Aronoff

Susan,

It is a great way to stay in contact. You'll find that most students today use social media as a way of communicating with others.

Patty Aronoff

Ryan,
We need to be aware of all things relative to our school. We are the first contact students have with the school and they will be asking the questions that we need to have the answers to.

LUZ,
Pictures are an awesome way to promote your school. It provides a lasting impression of an event.

Patty Aronoff

Erica,
It is part of the culture today. Many of our students are on Facebook daily.

Patty Aronoff

We use primarily twitter and facebook to announce upcoming sessions of our program and link to our web site/application page

Sherry,

Very exciting! Social media as a way to connect the audience through the Internet. Pictures are worth 1000 words.

Our school uses social media as a huge part of culture. We congratulate the students, announce news, spread tips, etc. We have one person that is dedicated to running the page so all the messages are uniform.

Our institution has used many different social media avenues to gain referrals and to publicize our academy. So far it has earned the communities attention and has allowed the students to become more involved with the academy by allowing them to post on our Facebook page and share photos and invite friends to like our page. It has broadened our quest to find potential students.

We use this media to create a web presence, but mostly from the academic department perspective we use it to create school spirit by posting school event photos and interesting information for the whole community. I like this use as it creates a more positive environment and teachers students to be more responsible with their online activities. As far as for admissions I think it is essential for a college to have this presence as long as it is used ethically and legally.

We have been using social media this past year. It has been a great resource for staying in contact with students. At our last 2 graduations we were able to post pictures and share graduates enthusiasm with all incoming and new students. Thankfully we have a few knowledgeable staff that have helped us all. I set up my account using school resources and using part of my job title as name so as not to have my personal information on Facebook.

While I, myself, am not directly involved (or involved at all) in our institution's social media presence, I believe it is important for admissions staff to be aware of the presence maintained by their institution. It is certainly a great way to reach students and communicate information. I have had students refer to social media sites when we are discussing the institution or a specific program and so it is from this experience that I was determined to stay up-to-date on what was being displayed.

We post weekly about new things events open house or programs that we are offering and also ask for imput from former students.

Wes,

It can be a mixed bag. We have often found that those who like to complain love to use the venue to complain. People are often on both sides of the fence either they love it or they hate it.

Patty Aronoff

Marlin,

For Manny it's a full-time job. Sites do need to be monitored and updated regularly in order to keep communication fresh.

Patty Aronoff

Olga,
Interesting! The use of social media is branching out into areas we never thought of before.

Patty Aronoff

Patrick,

There are many opinions of social media and how it is changing our culture. Although we may not all use it it is very much part of our students life today.

Patty Aronoff

Berthony ,
