I have printed all material it has told me to put in my resource notebook. I have learned definitions and didn't realize you had to renew yearly. I believe it is too early to gain a full aspect of what I did not know as the online assessment has just started and the information is extremely overwhelming at first.

I have started my Resource Notebook off with the Terms and Definitions section that will be necessary to fully understand the scope of the laws and regulations for Agents under the requirements set forth by Ohio State board of Career Colleges and Schools. Later on, I plan to add institution-specific information so I have a go-to resource to refer to for things like grdauation rates, program info, etc.

I did quite a bit of research on the institution where I work before accepting my position here; however, I was particularly pleased to learn additional information on the support services provided to our students to help them reach their full potential in our programs.

I have placed in my resource notebook information such as the course catalog, accredidation information, the available degree programs, etc. I discovered that there is an important difference between using the term "agent or admissions rep" versus "counselor" and will make sure I use the correct terms when I speak with prospective students so that I don't violate any compliance rules.

I may have put too much in my resource notebook but I always like to be prepared. I like to be able to find an answer myself rather than asking a bunch of different people. I included in my resource notebook: policies, handbooks, rule and regulations that I have not memorized quite yet. Somthing that I learned that I am glad to hear of is that the board and school are able to run a background check on an agent and possibly suspend or revoke their permit depending on results. Something else that I didn't know about the institution is that some agents earn commission but that it can only be 25% of their income.

just starting my resource notebook- any suggestions on how I should organize? tabs?? what sections??

I'm a new hire so my Notebook has all the information provided to me by my institution as well as additional papers given to me by co-workers. So far nothing has surprised me about the rules and regulations but it is nice to have something to reference as I get adjusted to my new position.

I will enter laws, rules or statutes, forms, and a catalogue. I discovered the school's history, programs, tuition and expenses, student services, rules and regulations that are mandated by Ohio laws especially concerning what educational institutions must inform the potential student prior to signing an enrollment agreement.

I have printouts from the information on this test site. I have learned that agents need to renew their permit annually.

The Resource Notebook is a great idea. So far I've added the school catalog, laws and regulations, enrollment agreement, marketing information, org chart, and policies and procedures. I hadn't thought of adding the org chart but I can see how that information will be very helpful when I have questions and need help.

I have placed in my notebook the requirments to up to date for all rules and regulations for the Admission Board/

I have only started my Notebook, but everytime I put in something new, I learn more about my school!

I have worked in admissions at another school that never required an agent license. It's actually a very good protection to have when representing a school. It's not only good for the agent but also the student and the school itself.

I like the idea of having a section dedicated to the revisions. I am going to add an Ohio Revised section to my resource binder as well.

You made a good point about the difference between Counselor and Representative. It's good to have the 'real' definition, which I also added to my Resource Notebook.

In my resource notebook, I've added the Academic Plan for each program. Students may sometimes ask if a particular course is a part of their program, and I need to have the answer.
What I didn't realize is that you cannot "solicit", perhaps unhappy students from other colleges - they must come to you without any suggestions.

After searching the Intranet, how does one find the Orgaizational Chart for their campus?

I agree, Its important that we keep information updated so that we give out correct information to our prospective students.

I didn't know that the Med students had to take a physical exam for that program

I put the school catalog in the resouce notebook. I didn't know the med asst had to take a medical exam during the course.
