Making the hard Call

Students know my expectations from day 1. They know that I am there to teach them and they are there to learn. Each student have the rights and responsibility to learn and let there classmates learn. Class disruption is not allow in my classroom. Verbal counseling comes first, then written and then removal. This is my way for good order and discipline.

Challenging Students

Since no students are alike, I deal with each student's challenge differently. One of the most important steps I consider is the student's age. Age can assist in identifying student's life experience. I sometimes find myself talking to my younger students as similar to the ways I talk to my adult children.

Day One

As an instructor it is always inportant to learn who your students are. The first day of class I tell the student about my personnal history which includes were i'm from, my educational background and most important my experience on the subject matter. each student then gives a short bio of themselves. A syllabus and calender is then given to each student and we discuss the course and the expectations for passing the course,

TALKING PERSONAL LIFE

Some time talking about the personal life if it is part of career may motivate the students, sharing your experience will help the students to understand field they will work

Always late comer

I don't know but when i start teaching i face this situation some studnets are always late in class and they expect to repeat the lecture and they want A grade in exam. uff very difficulte

Eliminating Stress

making a stressors list and plan to revisit this list as a part of your weekly todo list

Good advice, specifically, and in general...

I found this section to be helpful, no matter your profession. In the 1970's, I was a NYC taxi driver (has to be THE most stressful job in the universe!); in the 1980's I was a fraud investigator for an international bank; since the early 1990's, I have been a college instructor. All of these jobs are stressfull--life is stressful! Tackling stress is essential to well-being, and being able to identify the stress, and the stressors in your life are the keys.

Classroom management

Having a group of people "buy in" to your teaching style can be a difficult thing. The management of a class will ultimately determine how well the student recieves and retains the course matter information.

Dealing with Stress

Being a personal trainer, I have found that physical activity and breathing are two very important coping mechanisms for stressors that we cannot eliminate.

Stress

I find that this section covered many key points about stress. Stress is a huge component when dealing with the immune system. It is important to recognizes the stressors in our every day lives.

Taking Control of Your Time

I thought the lesson was extremely helpful in allowing me to see the flaws in my time management. Writing a task list which prioritizes the tasks by urgency is an excellent way to accomplish goals.

dealing with challenging students is challenging

challenging students help teachers develop and learn, bolstering the capacities of both teacher and student.

managing student behavior

for students who repeatedly use cell phones or small electronic devices in class, a small high emissions radio frequency directional device will render their machine useless.

common instructor mistakes

never mix up the permanent markers with the dry erase ones. especially if using a smartboard

Ready to Quit

I value the suggestions for interacting with a "ready to quit student." I try to encourage students across the board, but as I see students lack motivation or have complancency to do average or below average work, I hope to avoid dismissing the chance to reverse this.

Coping

You must identify your stress factors and eliminate them. Placing goals in order and facing what is needed to maintain a smooth working environment should be a coping mechanism as well.

stress the silent

Stress is a contributing factor to some chronic health issue. Maintaining stress or have the lowest amount is the best for all.

Procrastination a habit

Procrastination is a habit but with focused goals and a constant change in behavior it could be changed for the best.

Repeating Mistakes

“A strategy for avoiding repeating some of the above mistakes is to make notes about how a lecture, demonstration, or activity worked for you.” I think it would be helpful for new instructors to know that a lecture that bombs in one class might get a standing ovation in another. Don't just throw out a lesson plan because it didn't go so well with one class. Try it out on a couple.
