Planning multiple courses

What would be the best outlook when planning for multiple courses?

Dislexya & Dsynoia

Yes i spelled both wrong for a reason, I have Dyslexia in that I reverse my letters and numbers when I write or type, it goes into the brain right but doesn't come out 'right'. I have to edit myself all the time. I also have Dysnomia it's hard for me to remember names unless I've seen that perons many times. So I know about learning disabilities and can relate to those students easier.

working with more and more ELL

The last 2 terms I've had a Spanish woman in my classes, she is the nicest person but doesn't 'get it' sometimes because of the language barrier, and I would try to make my instructions as simple as possible, or show her how to do the task, or ask another student to help her that I thought was good enough at the task already.

I've never made a group

So it's good to know why I would put students into a group, and what i would look for in order to make the group diversified.

LEARNING ACTIVITY

By using games in the class is another way to keep the students focus.

I move around he classroom

Because I want to see what the students are working on, and how far they are in the process of the assignments, and if they need help. Also shows I'm there to help if I'm close to someone that wouldn't normally reach out to me if I were in the font of the class talking.

Keeping students interested in class

Is it a bad idea to play games and come up with certain phrases to help students learn the material?

People Person

I'm such a people person. I love people. Is that a bad thing when starting to teach? I don't want the students to see right through me and take advantage of my kindness. Is that a possibility?

Lesson Plan

Can you tell me the best way to make a proper lesson plan. I'm nervous about this.

Disabilities

The main issues that I have seen students have is reading that is normally where I step in and try to help by explaining and showing more real world scenarios.

Language barriers

It helps to show a lot of pictures when training students with disabilities

Learning

Groups assists in getting the information through to each and every student. In case someone did not understand a part other group members can help\.

communicating

I love tot walk around the class during lecture! It also helps to ensure that everyone is on task and on the same page.

Show me your activities or ways to incorporate

I would REALLY like to see alot more ways and activities that can be used to incorporate Active Learning into different subjects and courses. Some of my fellow instructors have used Jepordy with success, others here have not had that success, me included. The Bingo game seems interesting, not sure how to work it and employ it.

Reading/Writing Deficiencies

We have some students who come right out of high school who still do not how to write properly. It takes away from the learning online.

Learning Disabilites

This can be very tricky when helping students online. If a student does not inform an instructor we have no way of helping the student.

Monitoring students

I think monitoring students is crucial. I always follow up with my students on blackboard.

Movement in Classroom

I never thought of moving around in the classroom as part of a lesson plan. I think that would be very helpful in a classroom

Types of Testing

At our University, I find the McGraw Hill tests quite challenging for the students. However, if a question was too hard, the instructor would not count that towards the student's grade.

Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs)

I think the "CAT" technique would be extremely helpful for our instructors. We use surveys are the end of the semester to get an idea of what works at our school and what doesn't.
