Advertising for school

The best advertising for a school comes from the students. The word of mouth that comes from them can either make or break the reputation of a school. Our time should be focused first and foremost on serving the students. If we focus on serving them first, the rest will take care of itself.

Foreign students

I know of a lot of foreign students that are granted their stay in the US because they are pursuing their school in the US. Can a foreign student be helped with a translator in the admissions process?

Attendance is a big issue for certain schools.

I have attended so many schools in the last 11 years, and every school has its own policy about the attendance issue. The smaller size schools are struggeling to get students in and therefore, they try to make it as simplified and as sweet for the students as possible by not stressing much on attendance. I know of schools that would let you attend only one day a week and will count it as a 40 hour week. I know that this is done in order for the school not to lose the student and the money that he or she is paying. How do we do to enforce the attendance issue without getting the small schools to lose the money?

Placement

There is often a misconstrued idea by many people and myself when I was going to college that it was certain the college would find you a job. It seemed like to me, that colleges don't seem to clarify this in thier marketing strategies and students are mislead. Is this the institutions way of trying to get higher enrollement?

Financial Aid

So many times I have seen students after they have been attending an institution still not understand the terms of thier financial aid loans and interest rates. Financial responsibilty in most cases is something that young adults are not prepared for when they are at the collegiate level.

Accreditation

Why is it that not all schools are required to be accreditated?

Follow ups

What are some ways to keep on track with follow ups and enrollments?

Education

Are obtaining certifications better then going to college

Admissions & Deadlines

I have trouble with students meeting the deadlines. I ask but dont require all of our admission requirements the first day of school, then I give them ten days from the first day of school. But yet, I still have those who don't comply... What do you do?

Life Experience

This is probably one of the most challenging areas for the awarding of transfer credit. It can be extremely political, as well as troublesome for an institution if not performed properly. Is there a specific training program that addresses this issue?

Advertising and Marketing

This is one area that seems to be getting scrutinized by school administration as a result of current economic conditions. It is becoming a tougher call either way. You can spend a lot of money carpet bombing an advertising campaign in pursuit of a dwindling student pool, or conduct technical studies to determine if a narrowly-focused marketing plan is better in these difficult times. Unless your institution is loaded with Title IV programs, I recommend pursuing the latter plan, if not for the sake of saving money in your marketing budget. The more difficult economic climate is going to force more applicants to the government money. Those institutions offering Title IV assistance will, therefore, continue to grow, regardless of the economy. Those not qualified to offer Title IV will be faced with draconian budget cuts.

Wording

Recommend that some of these questions be worded differently. The current selection of some words can be misinterpreted. The first three questions of the quiz are prime examples. Yes, I agreed with the first correct answer, for example; however, there are admissions rules, over and above the minimum standard set by the Commission, which can apply to an institution. As written, a person can easily read too much into these questions.

What I know about my Institution

My Institution have a well define admission and enrollment structure. All of our officials have the correct information to provide of our prospects. The Compliance Office guard that every announcement does not contain false information about our services and academics programs. My institution care for the compliance with the licenses and accreditation processes in order to maintain the integrity of the policies and procedures.

What is the different between enrolled and active students?

We call new students when they start, otherwise they are enrolled or active; same meaning. Thank you!

Accreditation

What exactly is the value of accreditation? My institution is currently scrambling to get regionally accredited (they're already nationally accredited).

Graduation

I realize that graduation isn't required, but it's still great for the students. I wonder if there's something online universities could do to celebrate a student's academic achievement? Has anyone heard of anything like that?

Admission Requirements

Can a student be denied admission due to a lack of an acceptable level of English skills?
