Financial Aid and Admissions

From day one of me beginning my career in Admissions, i learned that the less you know of financial aid the better. There are so many opportunities for the Admission Rep. to say something that is incorrect that could lead to trouble.

The Resource Notebook

I've been in Admissions for almost 8 years and I truly believe that having a book with UPDATED information is a fantastic ideal. There are times that a situation may come up, that a solution to the situation was covered in a meeting or possibly in training. I feel it will be very helpful to me in the future.

Tuiton Rates

If tuition is a blanket cost across the board why does it varie for business, industry and government agency? Is there an incentive offered by the employer?

Knowing your school

While in my position, it is very important to understand our offerings. While in the training period, I learned the requirements of each program and the information necessary to gain knowledge of the programs. We offer a career development department with their responsibilities outlined and considered. Included are resume development, interview coaching and help with the websights needed to find the employment opportunities.

Contractual Implications

I would think that the question about a school's catalog possibly being a part of a contract enrollment agreement would've been considered a part of the final actually enrollment agreement form. I think that any documents, such as a school's catelog, contains information that is to be true and consistent with any agreement finalized between a student and a school. Therefore, although in and of itself doesn't constitute an agreement, could be used at any point after the actual enrollment agreement is signed, to be used as a legal argument against a school if the language therein is not consistent with the final written enrollment agreement.

Refunds

It was great to see the breakdown of the refunds to former students. It gave me a greater understanding of the financial aid department's role.

Student Services

Student services is a vital part of the success of the school. Support during a student's education is important. We inform prosepective students about student services during the tour and they also participate in orientation and dorm move-in so students are able to feel comfortable utilizing student services once they start school.

Staying up to date and compliant

It's important that an agent continues to keep themselves updated on all aspects of the admissions processes, rules and regulations. It's also important that an agent is up to date on other aspects of the school. Using the different departments and publications relating to your school is a good way to stay updated. Being up to date is also a good way to make sure an agent is compliant, which is so important when working in admissions.

Is Agent Training a one-time requirement?

It is necessary to satisfactorily complete the Agent Training course before you can work as an Agent or Admissions Representative. It is also necessary to keep up to date with new regulations and policies and complete continuing education as required by your school.

Career Services Department

I must admit, I have not, until now of course, thought to talk with the career services department in an effort to be a more effective rep. I think part of my concern is not wanting to convey some information i get from them to the student and be out of compliance! I guess I am still torn on how to utilize this information. Any suggestions?

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF A STUDENT BODY

REPS SHOULD BE KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE SCHOOL THEY REPRESENT. NOT TO FALISFY INFORMATION OR MISLEAD STUDENTS TO SIGN UP FOR A PROGRAM OF STUDY. ALSO PRESENT CLEAR PRECISE EXPECTIONS REGARDING THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PROGRAMS,TUITION, FINACIAL AID(TITLE IV) FUNDING, DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS/ DOCUMENTS...ETC..
